In this session participants will be led on a self-reflective journey to refresh their passions about leading through difficult times. Participants will be empowered to examine their commitments towards equity work by addressing their own mental health, burnout and overcoming work-life trauma. As a goal, participants will be empowered to renew, refuel and “put their hands up” to effectively push for equity and inclusion within today’s society.
When you Put Your Hands Up
In this session participants will be led on a self-reflective journey to refresh their passions about leading through difficult times. Participants will be empowered to examine their commitments towards equity work by addressing their own mental health, burnout and overcoming work-life trauma. As a goal, participants will be empowered to renew, refuel and “put their hands up” to effectively push for equity and inclusion within today’s society.
Anti-Black Racism 101
Participants will leave with an understanding of the unique nature of systemic racism on Black Canadians. Participants will also:
- learn about Black history in Canada and how it informs current Anti-Black racism initiatives;
- understand concepts of trauma and racial stress caused by Anti-Black racism;
- reflect on concepts of racial identity and privilege and how ABR work can be integrated into your daily lives;
- analyze statistics and lived experiences to challenge bias, inequity and social injustices; and
- identify strategies to engage in difficult conversations that lead to sustainable solutions to enhance the workplace culture.
Mental Health & Wellness
This workshop provides mental health awareness and education to de-stigmatize any form of mental health/illness in marginalized communities. The session aims to provide a voice for those who are suffering silently and provides tools to develop leaders to build mental health awareness in their organizations.
